Terms of Use

The agreement between you and Hourly. It is short on purpose: use the service sensibly, pay for it if you subscribe, and your data stays yours.

The service

Hourly is a time-tracking tool for people who bill by the hour, available at hourlylogs.com and as an iOS app. By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

Your account

You sign in with Google; we never hold a password for you. Keep control of that Google account, because whoever can access it can access your Hourly data. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got in. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough where you live to enter into a contract.

One account is for one person. Do not share logins.

Your data is yours

Everything you put into Hourly — your clients, projects, tasks, and logged hours — belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it. We store and display it so the service can work, and for nothing else: we do not sell it, mine it, or use it to train machine-learning models. You can export it to CSV at any time, and delete all of it by deleting your account.

What we own is Hourly itself — the software, the name, and the design.

Free and Premium

The free plan is genuinely free and has no time limit. It caps you at 3 clients and 5 projects, and keeps reports and CSV export for Premium.

Premium is an auto-renewing subscription costing $9 per month or $79 per year on the web. Prices in the iOS app are set per country and are shown on the purchase screen before you buy. It unlocks unlimited clients and projects, reports, and export.

It renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. To stop it, cancel before the period ends — at least 24 hours before, for purchases made through Apple. Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep Premium until the period you have already paid for runs out. Nothing is deleted when you drop to free: your history stays intact and readable, you just cannot add beyond the free limits until you upgrade again.

We can change prices, but not retroactively — you will be told by email before a change affects you, and you can cancel first.

Payment and refunds

Payment on the web is handled by Stripe; purchases in the iOS app are handled by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see or store your card details.

Purchases made in the iOS app are Apple’s to refund, not ours. We cannot issue, reverse, or see those payments — request a refund through Apple, and manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple ID settings. For subscriptions bought on the web, write to us and we will deal with it fairly.

Fair use

Do not:

  • break the law with it, or use it to harm someone
  • try to reach accounts, data, or systems that are not yours
  • probe, scrape, overload, or attack the service
  • resell it or pass it off as your own product
  • upload malware, or content you have no right to

We may suspend or close an account that does these things. If we close yours for a reason other than a breach, we will refund the unused part of what you paid.

Ending it

You can leave whenever you like: Settings → Delete account removes your account and all of its data immediately and permanently. Export anything you want to keep first. Deleting your Hourly account does not by itself cancel a subscription bought through Apple — do that in your Apple ID settings.

What we do not promise

We work to keep Hourly running and correct, but it is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, and we do not guarantee that hosting or third-party services never fail. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — the CSV export exists for that.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost profit, lost business, or lost data — and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as they legally can. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Apple

Apple is not a party to this agreement and has no obligation to support the app. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and any claim about it should come to us rather than to Apple. This section exists because Apple requires it, and Apple may rely on it.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and for anything material we will email you rather than quietly editing the page. Continuing to use Hourly after a change means you accept it.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. If part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
